Helsingborg Innovation District (HID) recently became the first innovation district to join the Swedish Incubators & Science Parks (SISP) network.
The membership marks an important step for HID and will enhance its collaborations with other leading innovation environments in the country. By joining the network, Helsingborg strengthens its position as a central player in innovation and entrepreneurship.
“We’re excited to join a national network filled with expertise and experience,” says Zeynep Erdal, Head of Helsingborg Innovation District. “As we’re building up our innovation district, we see great opportunities to learn from others, share our successes, and contribute to the national conversation on the role of research and innovation in development. Being Sweden’s first innovation district in SISP, we hope to bring fresh perspectives and foster strong collaboration among all members.”
Helsingborg’s long-term efforts and a strong focus on sustainable growth and innovation resulted in recognition by the European Commission, as it was awarded as “one of Europe’s most innovative cities” in 2020. As part of the SISP network, the innovation district will benefit from a wide range of resources and collaborations, further advancing the work of developing innovative solutions for the future.
“Our focus is on exchanging experiences, gaining business intelligence, and building strong networks,” Zeynep continues. “Innovation districts are a relatively new concept in Sweden, and Helsingborg is proud to lead the way. We’re eager to contribute to the national dialogue about how research and innovation ecosystems can drive societal growth and development.” She adds, “Helsingborg has a long history of working with innovation and is recognised as a strong European role model in several areas. Being the first innovation district to join SISP is an exciting milestone, and I look forward to contributing our progress and expertise to this inspiring network.”
