Helsingborg City continues its journey as a leading entrepreneurial hub, with a focus on tech and data-driven innovation. The Municipal Executive Committee has allocated 500,000 SEK for 2025 toward a targeted investment in scaleups – companies with high growth potential.
– Helsingborg should be a city where businesses grow, innovation thrives, and new jobs are created, says Christian Orsing (M), Chair of the Municipal Executive Committee.
Helsingborg is a distinctly entrepreneurial city. It has a rich history of bold entrepreneurs who, through innovation and fresh thinking, have built successful companies. In recent years, the city has worked purposefully to solidify its role as a growth engine, focusing on tech and data-driven innovation.
In 2024, the Helsingborg Innovation District was inaugurated, and right now Helsingborg Tech Week is underway, bringing together leading players from academia, business, and the public sector.
The city is now launching yet another initiative to create better conditions for local scaleups – companies with high growth potential and scalable business models. The Municipal Executive Committee is allocating 500,000 SEK in 2025 to this initiative and is signaling that the effort will continue into 2026.
– For Helsingborg to continue being a driving force for growth and innovation, we must create favorable conditions for businesses not just to start here, but also to grow and stay here. Through this initiative, we strengthen our competitiveness and build an even stronger labor market, says Christian Orsing (M), Chair of the Municipal Executive Committee.
The initiative is intended not only to foster growth within the tech sector but also to amplify positive effects across the entire local business community, creating more job opportunities. HETCH, one of the key players within the Helsingborg Innovation District, welcomes the city’s increased focus on scaleups.
– Helsingborg’s prioritization of scaleups is crucial for retaining and developing the next generation of growth companies. By strengthening the ecosystem for businesses ready to scale, we can create even more jobs and innovations that benefit the entire region, says David Nilsson-Sträng, founder and CEO of HETCH.
