As a society, we face major, complex, and sometimes overwhelming challenges that we need to address together. In the end, there is no real “us and them.” Whether it is a country, a company, a city, a choir—or a planet—we fall (and rise) together.

In connection with Overshoot Day 2026, you are warmly invited on Thursday, April 16 to the lecture “Together in the Mess – Climate Psychology, Choir Power, and Collective Ability.” There is no such thing as half sustainability. External and internal sustainability are interconnected and depend on each other. We cannot talk or think our way to change alone—it must also be felt in the body. We need to become motivated and engaged.
As part of the newly launched Helt Hållbart, Kata Nylén, author of Climate Psychology, together with Jonas Engström, Choir Leader of the Year 2022, will demonstrate how climate psychology and the power of singing together can create meeting spaces where we practice collaboration, participation, and trust—key conditions for creativity and innovation.
The lecture is a joint initiative with representatives from the municipality, business sector, academia, and civil society, and will take place at RecoLab—a world-unique development facility within Helsingborg Innovation District, located about a 15-minute walk from Helsingborg Central Station.
During the lecture you will:
-
Understand why change is so difficult—even when we know what is required
-
Learn psychological keys that strengthen motivation and the ability to act
-
Experience how community and music can create energy and direction
-
Reflect on: Where are we? Where do we want to go? How do we get there—together?
