Opening of ‘Elektra – the energetic city’

Science Centre Helsingborg invites you to the opening of our new exhibition Elektra – the energetic city, where the Nobel Laureate in Physics, Anne L’Huillier, will open the exhibition.

In ‘Elektra’, electricity becomes visible. Visitors can follow the path of electricity from various energy sources, through the grid and out to the city’s households, transport and industries – and try for themselves to solve one of the electricity system’s major challenges: constantly maintaining a balance between production and consumption.

We begin with something as everyday as a slice of bread. In the exhibition’s giant toaster, visitors can generate the energy needed to toast a slice of bread themselves. The toasted slice of bread then becomes our very own unit of energy as we compare how much electricity different parts of the city require.

The exhibition has been made possible with support from Region Skåne as part of the work to secure Skåne’s future skills supply. By sparking young people’s interest in science, technology and energy, Elektra aims to help more people realise the importance of the knowledge and careers needed in the electrified society of the future.
